Breaking News ! Marks and Spencer are famed for their hybrid baked goods, bringing popular flavours and classic cakes together. The high street retailer recently introduced the world to the ‘Yumnut’, a yum yum and doughnut combination that gained international notoriety. And now, in a move that could well end the reign of the Jaffa Cake as the only sweet treat around which their rages an ‘is it a cake or is it a biscuit?’ debate, M&S is bringing the 'Biscake' to its stores. I love biscuits and cakes in equal measure but the question is, will the Biscake succeed in combining the too or fail miserably? It's an ambitious crossover and, as the Batman vs Superman movie taught us, big-name collaborations can sometimes cancel each other out. The Choc Chip Off the Old Block Biscake (Image: James Bayley) The Biscake, which retails at £2.50, is available in three flavours: Choc Chip off the old block Cherry Cake-well Lemon Meringue-a-tang In a pack, you get two very decadent, cupcake-sized Biscakes. I trialled the Choc Chip off the old block for my taste test because out of the three flavours, the chocolate one seemed the most hardcore and I don't faff around when it comes to MyLondon taste tests.
... Taste: Very, very, very chocolatey. Texture: The muffin in the middle was the meat in the sandwich, so it was mainly spongey. The cookie dough crumb, like a glorified Maryland cookie, provided a sturdy base. The fudge on top was smooth and silky. Rating: 6/10
