Breaking News ! Two sisters who weighed a combined 37 stone lost 11 stone between them after their relationships broke down. Lindsay and Corinne Pownall from St Helens are now almost unrecognisable from how they looked before their joint weight loss journey. 35-year-old Lindsay was so devastated when her long-term partner walked away from their relationship she turned to food for comfort. At her heaviest, she weighed 20 stone which she said was due to “shovelling down packets of chocolate biscuits” to help deal with the heartache. Corinne, 40, also suffered the same heartache when she found out that her partner of 20 years had been unfaithful which led to the breakdown of their marriage. Her unhappiness in the “toxic relationship” led to her ballooning to a size 20 and weigh 17st 4lb. Lindsay said: “I’ve always struggled with my weight, ever since I was a little girl and grew tall enough to reach the butter dish. “My mum used to catch me eating butter with my fingers and even as I’ve grown up, I have turned to food as an answer to every mood or emotion I go through. “When I was happy – I ate, when I was going through a tough time – I ate, when there was something to celebrate – I ate. “I was constantly trapped in a cycle of being unhappy because I was overeating - and overeating because I was unhappy.” Lindsay says that when her long-term relationship broke down in the summer of 2018, it was no surprise that she turned to food to make herself feel better. Lindsay said, “I’m so proud of my beautiful, strong, amazing sister! She’s had a tough year and she’s come out fighting! “We never wanted to be ‘skinny’, just happy in our own skin, and I can honestly say that for the first time in my life, I am.” She added: “We’ve been through hell and back, but everything happens for a reason and we wouldn’t be where we are today if we hadn’t had these experiences to shape us.”
