Breaking News ! The Home Secretary Priti Patel confirmed there would be no new lockdown rules issued today or tomorrow and said the focus was on enforcing the current regulations. Ms Patel appeared on This Morning today where she quizzed by hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. Phillip asked her what the plans were for tougher restrictions and she said: "I think the majority of your viewers are all doing the right thing, staying at home and following the rules, they are well aware of social distancing measures. "The plans are to enforce the current rules, there shouldn't be about speculation, I've said this repeatedly its important that we enforce these rules. "People will be seeing more police on the street, covid marshalls and trading standards making sure supermarkets are following the regulations." Phillip asked her about the plan for a 3m social distancing rule and she said: "We are going to stick with enforcing the current measures, there will be no new measures, not today or tomorrow. "Our focus is on the enforcement of the current rules and regulations." Ms Patel was asked about the vaccine rollout and she said the government were working on supply with astrazeneca to make sure the supply is getting to the vaccination centres.

The Home Secretary also spoke out on the free school meals parcel scandal and said the photos of what people had been sent were "appalling." She said: "The voucher scheme is coming back on the 18th January, I think the company involved should be ashamed of themselves and I personally think action should be taken against them."
