Breaking News ! More than a hundred Merseyside schools have now announced positive coronavirus cases after another 36 schools were added to the list. The news comes amid warnings of a region-wide lockdown, with the rates of cases per 100,000 people going well above 200 in some areas. Knowsley recorded the country’s highest coronavirus infection rate last week, with Liverpool not far behind. Findings by the ECHO show more and more schools have been impacted by positive cases and there are now thousands of children in self-isolation, across the region. Bellerive FCJ Catholic College and Notre Dame Catholic College both, separately, confirmed positive coronavirus cases yesterday (Monday). Bellerive said those who have been in direct or close contact are now “self-isolating for 14 days and the school has been cleaned appropriately”, while Notre Dame said a “small number of children… will be staying at home for 10 days”. Some pupils who attend The Grange Academy in Runcorn were also advised to self-isolate from yesterday, following “a confirmed case within the Year 7 and Year 8 Bubbles”. Some Anfield Road primary pupils are required to self-isolate, after “an adult working within the Da Vincis class bubble part of Year 5 tested positive for Covid-19”. Letters sent to parents say the school will remain open to all children, including Year 5 children who are in different bubbles.
