Breaking News ! A man was spotted on the roof of a city centre car park before police closed rounds around it. Emergency services were called to the scene on Mount Pleasant shortly after 5pm over concerns for the safety of a man who had been seen on the roof. Police officers put road closures into place at the scene as fire crews and paramedics were also called to assist with the situation. A large cordon was erected at the scene to keep people away from the busy road while police spoke to the man. Officers were tasked with trying to bring the man to safety and it is believed he came down from the car park at around 7pm. Pictures taken at the scene show where the road was cordoned off at the junctions with Rodney Street and Brownlow Hill. Officers are asking people to avoid the area if possible while the incident is ongoing. In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that at around 5.10pm officers were called to Mount Pleasant, in the city centre, to reports of concern for the safety of a man who was scene on the roof of a car park.
