Breaking News ! Liverpool may have been flummoxed by events at Goodison on Saturday afternoon. But there continues to be little confusion over the progress of one of their most highly-rated Academy prospects. Stewart put Liverpool 2-1 ahead shortly before the interval when firing into the corner having been found by Max Woltman. And the striker extended the lead in the second half, heading in a fine Isaac Mabaya cross from the right. Mabaya had been the creator for the Reds’ opener on 12 minutes, playing a ball down the inside left channel for Ethan Ennis to cut in and curl home a right-footed effort for his first goal at this level.

But Liverpool survived late pressure to move into fourth place, just two points behind leaders Manchester City with a game in hand. The U18s are next in action on Saturday when they make the short trip to neighbours Everton. *Who was your Liverpool MOTM in the derby? Have your say here. However, there was disappointment for Liverpool U23s as they were beaten 1-0 at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday to stay in mid-table in Premier League 2. Barry Lewtas's side entertain Chelsea at the Academy next Saturday.
