MetiNews.Com - The restaurant will not reopen on July 4
Breaking News ! A Liverpool restaurant says it will not reopen on July 4, adding that it feels "too weird". Belzan, on Smithdown Road, is a favourite for many in Liverpool, having been described as a ‘complete gem of a restaurant’ and the ‘Best in Liverpool’ by TripAdvisor reviewers. The bistro closed its doors in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, but later transformed into a deli and wine shop in order to bring essentials to its customers. While Boris Johnson has given restaurants and bars across England the go ahead to reopen from July 4, Belzan says it will not be opening its doors. The decision is based on the size of the venue, which Belzan says is “one of those tiny places that only works financially if it’s completely full at the weekends”, meaning it would not be suitable with a limited number of guests allowed at once due to social distancing. Sharing the news on Instagram, the team at Belzan wrote: “With the relaxation of social distancing rules for bars and restaurants this week we would love to be returning Belzan back to its usual self, but the fact is that this is one of those tiny places that only works financially if it’s completely full at the weekends. “Those of you that have eaten here know it’s a bit “cozy”.

The team also noted that it would be “a bit too weird” to open to have a quiet restaurant since they “LOVE the hustle and bustle of the restaurant when it’s busy”. Instead of reopening the restaurant, the team will be focusing on its deli and wine shop, which has now extended its opening hours. The post continued: “Knowing that it’s gonna be here for the next few months at least means we can give ourselves the clarity that the whole industry has been begging the government for, and invest in making it better week in, week out, rather than hedging bets from one week to the next. “Thank you for your support and helping us to keep going through this insane time. Your generosity has astounded us every day for weeks now. Much love, Chris, Owain, Sam & Helen.” The deli and wine shop at Belzan is now open from Wednesday to Sunday.
