MetiNews.Com - A round-up of the latest Liverpool transfer rumours, including updates on Teun Koopmeiners, Vinicius Jr, and Aissa Mandi
Breaking News ! As the business end of the season draws closer, attention will gradually start focusing on how Liverpool will begin to rebuild from a disappointing Premier League title defence. There will be inevitable calls for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his squad, and over the next few weeks and months there will be a host of names that are supposedly on their shortlist. Here, we take a look at some of the latest rumours and assess whether or not they are likely to happen or not. Who? Teun Koopmeiners, AZ Alkmaar midfielder. Where? The 23-year-old is once again being linked with a move to Liverpool, as they look to ‘replace’ Gini Wijnaldum this summer. Reports last week linked the holding midfielder with a move to Anfield, now Spanish news outlet AS are backing that up by claiming that he is on the Reds’ radar this summer. Roma, Inter Milan, Napoli and Sevilla are the other clubs being credited with an interest in the midfielder. What? Chances are, Liverpool are going to need midfielder reinforcements this summer, if Wijnaldum does depart on a free transfer. The question then comes down to which player could be seen as his ‘replacement’ either in the short term or for the future. Koopmeiners is an undoubted talent - but we've taken a deeper look here at why he is not really in the Wijnaldum mould, and why the Reds are well stocked in the areas he is strongest. Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid forward. Where? With impeccable timing, Liverpool are being linked with the Real Madrid forward just days after he scored two goals against them in the Champions League. According to Anfield Central , the Reds contacted Madrid about possibly signing the 20-year-old this summer, but were met with a “resounding no”.
. It has also been claimed that Liverpool are still scouting the market for potential attacking reinforcements, placing Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi in the shop window in the process. What? Liverpool have now seen first hand just how good a player Vinicius is, and more than likely can be in the future. Even if the Reds were genuinely interested in him, the chances of Real letting him go for anything less than a sizable transfer fee in excess of £100m is pretty much impossible. Think we can safely say this transfer will not be happening this summer.

Who? Aissa Mandi, Real Betis defender. Where? According to Estadio Deportivo, via Sport Witness , Mandi is “studying” a potential move to Liverpool this summer. The report goes on to state that Mandi has rejected a fresh contract offer from the La Liga club, and looks set to leave at the end of the season when his current deal runs out. The 29-year-old is said to be assessing his options, with Inter Milan and Lyon credited with an interest, alongside Liverpool. What? Mandi was linked with Liverpool last summer, and then again briefly in January, but no move materialised. While the idea of signing a player on a free transfer may be appealing to some, it’s not necessarily the plan that Liverpool will want to follow. Any player that signs for the club should be good enough to get into the starting line-up, and it remains to be seen whether Klopp sees Mandi as having that quality.
