Breaking News ! Kate Garraway has recalled the emotional moment her husband, Derek Draper, returned home after more than a year in hospital fighting coronavirus. The Good Morning Britain presenter appeared on the ITV morning show to announce the good news and discuss Derek's homecoming. Derek was first admitted to hospital in March 2020 but has now been sent home from intensive care to be with Kate and their two children Darcey and Billy. Kate recalled the moment Derek arrived home, she said: "I could see two little faces looking out the window." Darcey and Billy then ran outside and burst into tears, Kate added: "That's when he knew he was home." Kate revealed that her husband will continue to need 24 hour care and that her house has been changed dramatically to fit in all of his medical equipment. She also described the moment the family sat down together around the dining table for the first time in more than a year. She said: "Because he can swallow a bit now I said right let's see if we can get you somehow round a kind of table with all four of us. "So we sort of managed to do that, and as I was sort of laying out the plates, I realised I was laying out four." Kate started crying and added: "It makes me cry now. Darcy was saying 'you're going to put four spoons down' and I don't know, it just feels like the start of a huge chapter but a really, really, big and important one. We're just going to do our best." Kate added: "It's such a silly little thing, it's a silly little thing but it was just 'oh my goodness'.

Fighting back tears, Ben added: "I remember sitting with her about a year ago and her telling me that he'd gone into hospital, and what that felt like. "And just thinking at the time, it's going to be fine, it's going to be fine and it hasn't been, it's been anything but fine. "And not just for Kate but for families up and down the country." Fans also took to social media to say congratulations to Kate and admit that they too were having a 'weep' about the good news. @bollyolly tweeted: "Having a little weep for you, so pleased Derek is home, he will come on leaps and bounds hopefully now, much love to you." @Skyseys added: "I am crying real wet happy tears listening to Kate Garraway tell us how she put out four plates on the table for her husband ..
