Breaking News ! Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has waded into the controversial penalty incident in Liverpool's draw with Brighton. The Reds were minutes away from a slender victory at the Amex only to concede a stoppage time spot-kick. Andy Robertson was adjudged to have tripped Danny Welbeck in the box in a decision that was awarded only after VAR intervened. Referee Stuart Attwell did not originally award a spot-kick following the incident, but was advised to watch the pitch-side monitor by VAR officials. "You think that Robertson has kicked the ball. "But when you see what the VAR saw, then it's quite clearly a penalty. " Robertson kicks out and catches Welbeck. If he'd have caught the ball the way he went to kick it, it would have gone way, way upfield. "I think the dilemma is that one man can see it's not a penalty, and one man can see it is.
