Breaking News ! The murder of a young man gunned down outside a chip shop remains unsolved four years on, as police issue a fresh appeal for information. Aaron Lewis, 26, was hit with up to eight bullets on Grosvenor Road, Wavertree, at around 7pm on February 1, 2017. Past arrests were made, including a 27-year-old man from Wavertree, but they did not led to charges or a prosecution. Aaron, a former kickboxing world champion at the age of 11, was gunned down moments after buying a meal at Anna Jungs chippy. He still managed to continue talking and be “up and walking around” afterwards before he was rushed to Aintree Hospital where he later died. Detectives identified the two weapons involved in the Wavertree killing, which have both been recovered, as a 9mm handgun and a .44 calibre revolver. The getaway vehicle - a white Renault van which was later found burnt out near Brookdale Road and Ferndale Road - had possibly up to three people inside at the time of the shooting. Police previously said there were at least three witnesses to the shooting and it remains unclear if those people have ever been traced. Two separate types of ammunition were recovered by officers. All signs indicated there being one shooter, but armed with two different weapons. Three years ago, a detective inspector told Aaron's inquest: “This is an unlawful killing, in no way was it self-defence. “Aaron was shot down in the street near to Anna Jungs chip shop. “He was with another person, leaving Bartlett Street. “Aaron ordered a meal and went outside. “He stands there, and in the next 10 seconds, the discharge occurs." Today, Detective Chief Inspector Cath Haggerty, of Merseyside Police, said: “Four years on, Aaron’s family are still understandably devastated by their loss and trying to come to terms with happened during this callous, targeted attack on a young man who had his whole life ahead of him. “His family deserve to have somebody brought to justice for his death. "I believe the answers lie within our communities so I would urge anyone to come forward with any information they may have. “Somebody knows who was responsible and that knowledge must weigh heavy on their shoulders.

. "The person or persons responsible for this incident do not deserve to be walking the streets of Merseyside. "Any small detail could be the key to this investigation, however insignificant you think it may be. “I would ask anyone who has any information which could assist with this investigation to contact us. As a youngster, the promising athlete had trials for Liverpool FC and Manchester United His dad, Alfie, previously told the ECHO: "These people out there, step up and do the right thing. “How would they feel if this was their son, or their daughter? “We are not after retribution, we don’t want anybody else to suffer. “But have a conscience and see if they can live with themselves having destroyed a family. Floral tributes line the street “We miss Aaron every single day. “It’s been horrendous - we will never get over it. “It’s hard knowing the animal and scum that killed my son is still out there, on the streets. “It’s terrible, it’s like a slap in the face. “I want this man caught.” Anyone who has any information which could help detectives with their inquiries is asked to contact detectives on 0800 230 0600, or the Crimestoppers hotline anonymously on 0800 555 111.
