To stand a chance of walking away with the jackpot, players must outsmart one of the show's quiz experts; Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan or new Chaser Darragh 'the Menace' Ennis. They use their encyclopaedic knowledge to try and prevent players walking away with the jackpot. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the show sees quizzing enthusiasts first complete a solo cash builder round before going head to head with a Chaser in a tense showdown to try and earn a place in the Final Chase. Ahead of tonight's episode, Darragh Ennis tweeted: "Who's ready for The Chase? Will I make my long awaited reappearance? Tune in to find out!" Fans have been missing the new chaser as he's been notably absent from episodes of the hit show so far this year. But tonight, Alistair, Melanie, Gillian and Marc went up against Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha.

Host Bradley said: "Your general knowledge is good, no doubt about that, but your UK knowledge - how long have you been in the UK?" Melanie said: "17 years." Bradley looked stunned while Melanie's fellow contestants laughed. Bradley then said a phrase in Portuguese before asking Melanie if she knew what it meant. Melanie translated: "It doesn't matter." Viewers were floored by Bradley's question and took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One fan shared an awkward emoji and commented: "Bradley asking the beautiful Portuguese Melanie if she understands Portuguese!" Morgan quipped: "Hey woman from Portugal, do you know what this Portugal saying means?" Paul said: "Of course she b***** knows what it means!" Heather said: "Bradley Walsh asking a Portuguese lady if she knows what a Portuguese phrase means has [me] hysterically laughing."
