Breaking News ! 1855290484">Marcelo Bielsa will have told some of his squad they do not have a future at Leeds United. That is according to former Aston Villa and Scotland manager Alex McLeish who, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted several fringe players failed to take their opportunity last weekend. Bielsa named a mix of first-team regulars, fringe figures and youth prospects in the squad but watched his men capitulate in the second half against League Two outfit Crawley Town. The Argentine boss also played the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Rodrigo in makeshift roles to cover for players who were injured or being rested. McLeish believes Bielsa will have seen enough to know that some of those that came in are a long way from the desired standard at Elland Road and that he may have issued some home truths to those in question.

“I’m not saying he’ll have made his mind up about one or two but he will know that many of the players that he introduced to the game are not ready for what Leeds’ ambitions are.
“He will either say: ‘Well, he’s got potential so no, he didn’t do too badly, he’s for the future,’ or else he’ll look at one or two and say: ‘I don’t know if you’re going to be a Leeds player, mate.'”
Bielsa handed the likes of Leif Davis, Jamie Shackleton and Ian Poveda rare starts against Crawley, while Pablo Hernandez and Helder Costa also returned to the starting XI.
