The former Rangers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted it was “unbelievable” nearly half of the Hoops’ goals against had come from set-piece situations. As detailed by Sky Sports and relayed by the Scotsman, Celtic have conceded 43 per cent of their goals from free-kicks and corners this season, the highest among all the Scottish Premiership sides. “I genuinely couldn’t believe it when I was reading it. It’s something they really need to rectify – it’s obviously too late now, but moving forward and in the future, its something they have to sort out.”
Celtic have conceded 23 times in 30 Premiership games this season, 14 times more than league leaders Rangers and only three times less than third-placed Hibernian.
They did not ship more than 20 goals in 38 league games for the past two seasons, while they have only conceded 26 goals or more twice in the last nine campaigns.
