Breaking News ! Police are appealing for information after members of the public were encouraged to break Covid-19 restrictions during a protest in Truro. The incident, involving the incitement of others to break the law relating to social distancing regulations, occurred outside Truro Cathedral at around 1pm on Saturday, November 14. Police would particularly like to speak to the woman pictured because it is believed she may have vital information which could help with their investigation. Anyone with any information, or who knows the woman pictured, is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk and quote crime reference, CR/096140/20. Cornwall Live reported at the time tensions between protesters and police during the so-called freedom rally. Protesters gathered and were heard chanting "take your freedom back". The woman police want to speak to The video above was filmed by a protester as the group clashed with police in High Cross in front of Truro Cathedral. It showed officers wearing masks and gloves attempting to disperse the crowd outside the cathedral.

Sentences such as "choose your side" and "shame on you" and "you are not Cornish" could be heard several times. Officers could be seen at High Cross, pushing away protesters. Later on in the video, the activists were shown following officers around and questioning their decision to arrest one of them during the rally.
The video continued with protesters explaining the arrest should not have been made and heard shouting, “they’re all brainwashed”, “you’re animals” and “you’re going to regret all this in the end, cause we’re not going to get our freedoms back”.
The woman police want to speak to
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed at the time that at least one arrest was made during the rally. Tension and pushing and shoving then carried on as the officers tied to escort a police van from the area. After the rally, protesters claimed officers were heavy-handed. Read more here.
