Breaking News ! A man in his 40s has been arrested after an incident involving a crossbow and a pellet handgun in St Austell this afternoon (October 18). Police received a report at 2pm of an altercation outside an address in the St Austell area, with one person threatened with a crossbow and a small gas powered handgun. Firearms officers attended the scene and conducted enquiries. The original caller of the altercation was no longer at the scene when the force arrived, and police want to establish his whereabouts. The black handheld gun is not an illegal firearm, and is powered by gas. Police confirmed there were minor traffic disturbances, but police cordoned off the road to conduct a search. No-one was injured in the altercation, and the man involved was taken to the local police station. The Force Incident Manager said: "Police received a report at 2pm of some sort of altercation taken place outside an address in St Austell.

"A man in his 40s was arrested for an affray and possession of a cross bow and small gas powered handgun which is not an illegal fire arm used. "There was minor traffic disruption. Police cordoned off the surrounding road to allow police with fire arms to conduct a search and make an enquiry at an address. No persons were injured, and the man was taken to the local police station."
