Breaking News ! Climate protest group Extinction Rebellion is planning a series of mass protests on “beaches, headlands and streets” across Cornwall during the weekend of the G7 Summit. XR states on its website that it is calling on everybody to “stand up and take action” in the Covid-safe, non-violent actions across the Duchy on June 11 to 13. The group states: “The G7, leaders of the world’s richest democratic nations are meeting in Cornwall on 11-13 June 2021 – and we will be there to greet them! “The G7 Summit will play a crucial role in climate negotiations this year, laying the path for the G20 Summit and COP26. The need for G7 countries to step up their ambition and make good on their promises has never been greater. “We are calling on EVERYBODY who can, to stand up and take action in Cornwall." . “The Cornwall Rebellion is acting in solidarity with global actions against G7.” They are the latest group to state their intentions, joining others such as Resist G7 in protesting in Cornwall. Devon and Cornwall Police have allocated official protest sites at Boscawen Park in Truro, Church Street car park in Falmouth and in Plymouth and Exeter.
