Breaking News ! A man has accused Newquay Golf Club of providing false information to visitors after he received a parking ticket. Glenn Robinson, aged 59, visited the golf club in March with the Indian Queens Working Men's Golf Society and used the visitor car park. Mr Robinson said he assumed as a paying visitor he would be able to use the golf club's facilities for free. However some weeks later he received a letter from Smart Parking - which operates the car park - claiming he had parked illegally. He said: "I decided to go to Newquay Golf Club and take a picture of the noticeboard at the entrance to the car park. "It states that visitors must sign in their vehicle using the tablet provided. "But there is no tablet provided. "What they mean is register your vehicle on the tablet hundreds of yards away in the pro shop. "It doesn't say anywhere on the noticeboard that the tablet is in the pro shop. "I've written to Peter Batty who is the secretary of the golf club to say they should be ashamed of themselves for robbing the very people they need - the golfers.

." Mr Robinson said Newquay Golf Club needs to either provide a tablet in the car park to register your details when you arrive, or provide visiting clubs with a piece of paper to register their cars, so someone can type their details into the tablet in the pro shop. He added: "My picture wasn't required during the appeal but shows that anyone who has been fined or has received a parking ticket from Smart Parking on behalf of Newquay Golf Club shouldn't have because the noticeboard contains false information." Newquay Golf Club has responded to the complaint from Mr Robinson and explained that visitors are asked to register their vehicles so the car park isn't used by beachgoers. "We take our visitor experience very seriously and are sorry to hear about this gentleman's problem when visiting Newquay Golf Club in March. "We have signs and notices throughout the club to remind visitors to register their vehicles when parking, however, we acknowledge that problems can still arise and visitors that contact us regarding a parking issue at Newquay Golf Club have their concerns dealt with in a satisfactory and timely manner. "We have only just been made aware of this issue as it appears the gentleman chose not to contact us at the time and took a different method of contesting his penalty notice, but we are delighted that he has been successful. "We will review our signage with our car park operators to see if any improvements are necessary."
