Cornwall news Girl, 4, organises beach clean and 150 people turn up to help out UK news
MetiNews.Com - Willow Spargo successfully organised beach clean over the weekend - and 150 people helped out
Breaking News ! A four-year-old eco warrior has defied her tender years by leading a beach clean and removing bags full of plastic from her local beach. Willow Spargo, from Truro, became upset after watching the Netflix hit documentary Seaspiracy which showed fish filled with plastic and turtles with plastic around their necks. Willow decided to arrange a beach clean and over the bank holiday was joined by 150 people for the tidy-up at Perranporth Beach. Willow’s proud mum Jade said: “It was an amazing event. So many people came, at least 150, including loads of kids around Willow’s age which was nice for her. “The Perran Bluetits (sea swimming group) were also there and so excited to help Willow. The sad part was we picked up so much rubbish filling two huge bags from Surfers Against Sewage. In honesty we could have spent a lifetime there and it wouldn’t have been enough. “Willow was even telling people off. There was a group of young lads from Birmingham drinking, smoking and throwing bottles.
. They looked a bit embarrassed.” Jade says Willow has always had a passion for helping the planet. She added: “As a family we are really environmentally resourceful and have drilled it into them from a young age. We’ve got books for children about protecting the planet that teach them how to be sustainable.
“This started when we watched Seaspiracy. Willow didn’t understand all of it but got really upset about the turtles with plastic around their necks and the fish filled with little bits of plastic. It really bothered her. “She said she wanted to do a beach clean and wanted be in charge and it went from there really. I’m a very proud mum.” Willow has organised another clean that will take place at Fistral in Newquay on June 12.
