Breaking News ! A devoted father and keen motorcyclist lost his life after crashing into the back of a tractor that had just changed direction, an inquest has heard. Aaron Lauder, 38, from Penzance, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Drift near Penzance on March 28 last year. Mr Lauder was riding his red Kawasaki motorcycle home from where he was working near St Buryan when the collision took place. An inquest into Mr Lauder’s death was heard at New County Hall on Wednesday (January 27) with all parties attending remotely. Mr Lauder died of a skull fracture and other head and chest injuries. Giving evidence, Tristan Boyns described how he’d been working with Mr Lauder that day and that he was in good spirits with no cause for concern. Mr Boyns left the work site around the same time as Mr Lauder but forgot something so went back. Minutes later he arrived at the crash scene, realising it was his friend who’d been in the accident. Mr Boyns was the last person to see Mr Lauder alive. Another witness spoke of seeing the distressed young tractor driver at the scene of the accident saying "why me, why me”. The tractor driver is also said to have “done all the right things”, checking Mr Lauder to see if he was responsive and calling the emergency services. The inquest then heard from the 19-year-old tractor driver Warwick Pryor. Mr Pryor said he’d been driving tractors for 12 years and first started driving them on the road aged 16. He’d been working for Pryor and Sons nearby and had driven his John Deere tractor past a layby where he intended to pick up a trailer, with the intention of turning around and approaching the load from a direction that allowed him to connect to the tractor. Aaron, a keen motorsports fan, pictured with world champion motorcyclist Valentino Rossi Mr Pryor spoke of not having the radio on, not having the sun in his eyes and having no factors present that would have distracted him from his driving. Driving conditions on the day were described as perfect. Answering the questions of acting senior coroner for Cornwall Andrew Cox, Mr Pryor stated that he travelled in the Penzance direction before using a road on his left to turn around. He reversed back into the mouth of the junction and began pulling out to turn right and head westbound in the direction of the layby. Mr Pryor says he looked to the right and saw nothing approaching so began to pull out. He said: “I began the manoeuvre and checked there were no cars coming from the left. As I looked back to the right a motorcyclist was coming.

. Both the tractor and Mr Lauder’s bike were found to have no defects and the decision was taken not to criminally prosecute any parties involved. Giving evidence during the hearing, police forensic collision investigator Andrew Fletcher said that in his opinion, the view to the right of the mouth of the junction was impaired by the bend and high hedge line and that extreme caution should have been exercised when pulling out onto the 60 miles-per-hour main road. He said there was no evidence of any speeding on Mr Lauder’s part and that once Mr Pryor committed to the manoeuvre, there was no way of him stopping once he saw Mr Lauder. Mr Lauder then locked his wheel but was also unable to avoid impact. Mr Fletcher said: “The collision is a result of the driver pulling out into the path of the motorcycle. Views were limited and once committed the tractor driver was unable to avoid Mr Lauder.” Cornwall Courts latest Men jailed for hiding body in mattress Woman smashed friend with wine bottle Sex pest stalked neighbour Ram raider jailed for epic fail He added that Mr Lauder’s dark jacket and helmet could possibly have caused difficulties when it came to Mr Pryor seeing him. Mr Lauder's tyres were slightly underinflated, although Mr Fletcher said it is unlikely this played a role in the accident. Delivering his conclusion, Coroner Cox said the accident was a result of a lack of visibility for vehicles pulling out of the junction. He added that Mr Lauder was travelling within the speed limit and when he turned the bend he was confronted with part of Mr Pryor's tractor in his lane. Mr Cox delivered a conclusion of road traffic collision and stated his intention to contact the relevant parties to have the height of the hedges brought down, have a mirror put up at the road side and have the speed limit brought down to improve the safety of the junction. Mr Lauder’s family paid a moving tribute to him following his death. The family said: “Aaron was a loving son, brother, partner, uncle, grandson, friend and a devoted father to his two daughters Eva and Esther who he absolutely adored. “Aaron had a huge passion for motorsports and travel which he lived for. An extremely hard worker and would help anyone in need. Aaron was one of a kind who lived life to the max, touching many people’s hearts. “A massive character with an unforgettable laugh and smile. He will be sorely missed.”
