Breaking News ! Those hoping to travel abroad from Bristol next month may have to take a raincheck on their plans. EasyJet has cancelled a number of flights and is limiting routes to and from Bristol during the week starting May 17 - despite non-essential travel being likely to resume from that date. These include flights to and from destinations including Italy, Greece, Portugal, Turkey and The Netherlands, leaving would-be holidaymakers frustrated. Exceptions include flights to and from Paris, some destinations in Spain and the Canary Islands which are still taking place before May 24. The Government’s roadmap out of Covid-19 restrictions suggests that non-essential travel could resume from May 17 and Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was hopeful about this on Monday. However, current government guidance still advises against booking summer holidays abroad. Bristol Airport (Image: Bristol Airport) A spokesperson from EasyJet told Bristol Live that flights will increase from May 17 onwards.

. "We will start to ramp up our flights from May 17 onwards, building towards peak summer and believe the summer can still be strong for international travel." However, most EasyJet destinations are unavailable to book before May 24 and many still have limited availability in the week after. The Government’s Global Travel Taskforce is set to announce further details about international travel on April 12 which will make international travel regulations more certain. An EasyJet spokesperson said: “As we have done consistently throughout the pandemic, we continue to review our schedule on an ongoing basis to align our flying programme with customer demand and government travel restrictions. “Any impacted customers whose flights are cancelled are notified and provided with their options which include transferring to an alternative flight free of charge, receiving a voucher or receiving a refund. "If only one leg of a customer’s journey is cancelled customers can transfer to an alternative flight or receive a voucher, or if they no longer wish to travel can request a refund for their entire booking."
