Breaking News ! Work is busily taking place behind the scenes to prepare Penzance for re-opening as the lockdown restrictions ease. In line with the Governments’ roadmap out of lockdown, non-essential stores will be able to welcome customers once more from April 12. Local business owners have been busy preparing for re-opening their premises. Where feasible, some traders have introduced one-way traffic systems on their premises, limited the number of people allowed in at any one time and re-organised displays to facilitate social distancing. Cafes, pubs and restaurants in Penzance have also been preparing for re-opening by undertaking deep cleaning, making more room for customers by relocating tables, and providing alfresco seating options where possible. This will allow The Dolphin Tavern and Dock Inn to have additional alfresco seating and dining. Scillonian customers will have more space to wait for the boat and pedestrians can access the harbour and newly refurbished prom. While many people cannot wait to shop freely again, there are some vulnerable people who may be wary of returning to their high streets. There continues to be signs throughout the town encouraging social distancing and hand sanitiser available in Wharfside and many businesses.
