Breaking News ! Chester has more than its fair share of incredible dining establishments, so luckily for us, many of them are preparing to reawaken this weekend following three months of lockdown. The government has given the green light for pubs, bars and restaurants to reopen from Saturday, July 4, although they all must adhere to strict social distancing measures to protect staff and customers. Now they've finally been given a date, many Chester venues will be reopening as soon as possible this weekend, after being closed for more than 12 weeks. However, not all of them are taking the opportunity to reopen this weekend, and many still have not revealed the dates they plan to do so. But if you're desperate to get back on to the eating and drinking scene, this guide should help you decide where to go first, and what kind of social distancing safety measures you'll be able to expect. The Suburbs is reopening on July 4 but only for table service - to ensure safe distance, some tables have been removed. If there are no tables free, customers will reluctantly be turned away, so booking in advance is required. The Town Crier The Chester Fields Staff say they are 'so ready' to reopen. Customers must book in advance, even just for a drink. Bookings for July 4 are now being taken. Deva Tap Doors will reopen on Saturday 4th at 12pm until 10pm. Bookings are advised and on arrival, customers must wait at the side door until a member of staff has spoken with you and confirmed your booking. Names and addresses will be asked for, in accordance with government guidelines. There is also a one way system inside and music will be played at minimum volume to reduce the risk of people singing along and spreading the virus through their mouths. Ring O Bells, Christleton This popular pub is reopening on the 4th with a slightly reduced menu and opening hours. There is a one way system throughout the pub with separate doors for entering and exiting. Card payments only and customers are given the option to order at their tables using a web link on their phones. The Chichester Arms Palm Cocktail Bar & Eatery This Watergate Street cocktail bar will be open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 4th July. Bookings are being taken now and require a £5 deposit per person. Social distancing measures will be in place. Bookings are being taken now. The Ship Inn, Handbridge Hickory's Smokehouse Sanitisation stations will be placed at entry and exit points and throughout the restaurant. Table service only, and staff's temperatures will be checked before their shift with cleaning procedures heightened across the restaurant. The restaurant has increased outdoor seating with reduced ones inside. Partitions have been installed so you can maintain a healthy distance from others. Menus are now disposable and recyclable. Sportsmans Arms, Tattenhall The Flower Cup is reopening on Saturday 4th and there will be more details released over the next few days in regards to safety regulations and opening hours. The Carlton Tavern The Pied Bull One of Chester's oldest pubs is reopening this weekend with strict government guidelines in place. There will be a separate entrance and exit and one way system in place, with hand sanitisation stations throughout, as well as a reduced table capacity. Customers will be asked to fill out a form for track and trace purposes. Walk-ins are accepted but customers are advised to book in advance to be guaranteed. The Rake & Pikel, Huntington is opening on Saturday from 12pm. Bookings are already being taken via Facebook Messenger or on the pub's website. You will need to fill out a form ahead of your visit. If you request an outside table, inside tables cannot be guaranteed. The Guild will offer table service only. Full names and contact numbers will be required for entry and non contact thermometers will be in place to take temperatures prior to entry and staff's temperatures will also be checked before each shift. You will be asked to leave the building if you do not adhere to any social distancing measures. Plumbers Arms The Saddle Inn is reopening at 12pm. Customers are advised to reserve tables to avoid disapointment.

The Church reopens on Saturday from 2pm and cant wait it's been too long. All table bookings must be made online through their website - maximum 6 people. The Cross Foxes, Boughton   The Faulkner, Hoole Book through the pub's online booking system on their Facebook page or via the website to book your table, which is advised. Bookings are limited to a maximum of 6 people & for dining customers. The Centurion, Vicars Cross Booking is not required but if they have reached capacity where you are not able to social distance inside, you will be asked go outside. There will be table service throughout. You will be asked to sign in to comply with the government's track and trace system. The Plough Inn, Christleton opens again on Saturday 4th at 12pm for drinks only and food will restart on Sunday 5th from 12pm. Bookings should be made by phone or via the pub's website. The Olive Tree Brasserie says it has been listening to guests and employees and taken advice from local EHO officials, UK catering trade bodies and the government to ensure they can open responsibly on the 4th. Hanky Panky Pancakes The White Horse, Chester Racecourse have spaced all inside and outside tables by a minimum of 2m. Booking in advance is essential. Staff have installed hand sanitising stations at the entrance to the pub and outside all toilet facilities. There are also Perspex sneeze screens in areas staff cannot ensure the correct distancing. On arrival, you will be met by one of the team and personally escorted to your pre-booked table. Once at your table, you will be provided with a single-use menu (or the option to order your food via the Qbunk app if you are dining outside). 1539, Chester Racecourse is reopening on the 4th for a weekend of special events. Book a table on their website. Big Hand Alehouse La Fattoria is open as normal on 4th July from 12pm and you must book by phone. ️Covid 19 measures will still be in place to ensure the safety of staff and customers. Popcorn Opera Grill will reopen just in time for the return of Gospel Sundays, although they will be a little different. As they are not allowed live music performances, the first Sunday after reopening (July 5) will show a prerecording of a typical Sunday afternoon gospel performance and this will be screened every Sunday on a projector. The Rowton Poplars Hotel The Black Dog, Waverton strongly advise customers to book a table in advance, and the lounge & garden are available for drinks/bar snacks. Restaurant & Domes are available to dine. You must book via email or via their website. Chester Market eateries Chester Market received the Chair's Award from Chester Civic Trust. Although many have been operating as takeaway only during lockdown, Chester Market's hugely popular food and drink traders will be back in business like old times this weekend. Market Al Fresco, a pop up outdoor eating area will open at the market on Saturday as lockdown restrictions are eased. Market Al Fresco will be located in a courtyard area to the rear of the  Forum Shopping Centre, allowing the revival of the popular Foodie Friday and Saturday evening openings. The courtyard will be carefully managed to ensure the latest guidelines on social distancing will be met whilst enabling customers to enjoy the wide range of food and drink available. Market Al Fresco will be open daily from 10am until 4pm and on Friday and Saturday evenings until 8pm for a trial period during the summer, with tables carefully spaced to allow for about 40 customers at a time. Many of the traders operating from this weekend include: Stile Napoletano, That Beer Place, Thai by Thai, Death By Tacos, Peak Sandwiches, NiceBites, Steins, Exotic Booze Club, Vinological and Jeffro's Wingz and Tingz.
