Multiple weather warnings for ice and snow have been issued for parts of Cheshire Areas of the county have experienced significant snow and ice over the past few weeks, which has caused havoc on the roads and to public transport. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice effective from 8am this morning (January 14) and remains in force until 10am tomorrow (January 15). The areas set to be mostly impacted are Wilmslow and Macclesfield, with the warning in place from 3am Saturday morning and continuing until 9pm that evening. The Met Office warns a band of heavy snow may lead to travel disruption.
. According to the ice warning, residents in these areas could expect icy stretches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. The Met Office also warned of a higher likelihood of accidents and injuries due to icy surfaces.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Rain, sleet and snow dying out, leaving a risk of icy surfaces and difficult travel conditions." The Met Office also says regarding the snow warning: "There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected".
