Breaking News ! The list of 'undesirable' surnames distributed to employees at popular holiday resort Pontins has been revealed. Families with Irish surnames including Boyle, Doherty and Gallagher were all barred by the company, with staff told 'we do not want these guests on our parks'. The news comes after an employee made a whistleblower complaint to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission [EHRC] in February 2020. A message printed alongside the blacklist, is reported to have told staff: "Please be aware that several guests are unwelcome at Pontins, however some of these will still try and book - especially during school holidays. "We have been informed by our Operations Director that we do not want these guests on our parks." The chain, which has resorts around the country including in the North Wales town of Prestatyn, distributed a list among employees titled 'undesirable guests' and monitored calls in their contact centre made by anyone with an Irish accent.

. "Banning people from services based on their race is discrimination and is unlawful. "To say that such policies are outdated is an understatement. “It is right to challenge such practices and any business that believes this is acceptable should think again before they find themselves facing legal action. "We will continue to work with Pontins and Britannia Jinky Jersey to ensure that our agreement is adhered to and its practices improve.” A spokesperson from Britannia Jinky Jersey said: "Britannia Jinky Jersey Limited has agreed to work together with the Equality and Human Rights Commission to further enhance its staff training and procedures in order to further promote equality throughout its business.” See the f ull list of surnames blacklisted by Pontins below Boylan Boyle Carney Carr Cash Connors Corcoran Delaney Doherty Dorran Gallagher Horan Keefe Kell Leahy Lee Maclaughlin McAlwick McCully McDonagh McGinley McGinn McGuiness McHarg McLaughan McMahon Millighan Mongans Murphy Nolan O'Brien O'Connell O'Donnell O'Donoghue O'Mahoney O'Reilly Sheridan Stokes Walch Ward Top stories from the CheshireLive newsletter Here are the latest stories from the CheshireLive newsletter Son's 'blood boiling' after dad's grave 'run over' Lockdown changes in March - everything you can do next week Cheshire areas where covid rates are above national average Fraudster lied about cancer diagnosis to dupe friend out of more than £500k Want to sign up to receive these stories straight to your inbox?
