Breaking News ! No new coronavirus deaths have been recorded across all four NHS trusts in Cheshire. It's the second day running since a patient fatality was registered in county hospitals. It means the hospital coronavirus death toll remains at 722 in Cheshire according to the figures published by NHS England today. The Countess of Chester Hospitals NHS Trust recorded no new deaths in the past 24 hours, however they still have the highest mortality rate for coronavirus in the county - at 227 deaths from Covid-19. East Cheshire NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in Macclesfield, Knutsford and Congleton, has a total of 146 Covid-19 related fatalities. Mid Cheshire Hospitals, which runs Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, have lost a total of 213 patients to the virus.
A further eight Covid-19 patients have died in the UK, bringing the number of hospital deaths since the start of the pandemic to 33,960. NHS England today confirmed that five patients, aged between 52 and 86, had died. There were three fatalities in Wales, and none in Scotland. Northern Ireland has yet to release a daily figure.
