Breaking News ! Council workers seemed to miss an entire school moving to a new campus - and painted the road with ‘keep clear’ markings after the old site shut for good. The King’s School has combined three sites into one at a £60m site at Alderley Road, Prestbury, which pupils will attend from September. It means the former site at Fence Avenue was one of two to close at the end of term on Friday, July 10. But more than a week later contractors for Cheshire East Council painted ‘SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR’ in yellow letters on the road outside. Amused resident Simon Leah said: “It’s a classic left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.  “Most locals will know by now the school has just completed the building of a new campus on Alderley Road. ”It closed both its current sites for pupils at the end of term on July 10, and is now in the process of moving the contents of both sites to the new campus.

A reserved matters application to agree the finer detail of the development will be heard by a planning committee this week. A spokesman for Cheshire East Council said: “This road was recently resurfaced and the contractor replaced the existing road markings as they were not aware that the school was due to relocate. “The markings were applied in good faith and will be removed at no cost to the council.”
