Breaking News ! The heartbroken family of a dad who has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour is bidding to raise money so he can marry his fiancée. Pete Bromley, 58, of Hurdsfield, was diagnosed with the condition on Wednesday, July 22, and has been given 12 months to live. The dad-of-seven, whose youngest child is aged one, has been with his partner Jodie Walsh, 37, for 16 years and engaged for three - although the busy couple had not found the time to get married. All that has changed now that time has become limited but the family cannot afford the expense of marrying at such short notice. So a fundraiser has been set up to enable the family to have the wedding day of their dreams, and has so far raised more than £2,100 in five days. It’s every girl’s dream to have a fairytale wedding day and we want to do everything to make it the best day we can. It would mean the world to us, we wish we could do it ourselves. “Jodie and Pete are a devoted couple who live in their own bubble and are hard working and never do any harm to anyone. If anyone deserves this it is them.” Pete was diagnosed following a CT scan after a period of symptoms that included headaches, sleep loss, forgetfulness, loss of balance and low mood.

. The family is optimistic he will have recovered from this by the Bank Holiday at the end of August, which is when it is hoped the wedding will take place. The family is now looking for a venue that can accommodate a reception while adhering to Covid social distancing. A wedding cake and dress for Jodie, who works as a mental health support worker at Macclesfield Hospital, have been secured for the big day. It is now hoped Pete, a big Manchester City fan and former DJ, will be well enough for the occasion. Ashley added: “Pete doesn’t smoke or drink. “This has come as a massive bombshell - we are all broken hearted. “He is a role model for the family and for him his family comes before anything.” Anyone who would like to donate to Pete’s fundraising cause can visit gofundme.com and search for ‘macclesfield dad’.
