Breaking News ! A gas mains replacement scheme in Hoole will mean some roads will be closed and a one-way traffic system will be in place for four weeks. The scheme started on Monday and will be at the junction of Hamilton Street and Newton Lane in the area. Hamilton Street will be closed to traffic from Monday and the work will then progress on to Hoole Road and Newton Lane from Monday, March 1. From March 1 as well as the closure of Hamilton Street, there will be one-way traffic on Newton Lane (between Hoole Road and Shavington Avenue) with traffic being able to travel from Hoole Road past the works. Hoole Road will also be under two-way traffic lights and these arrangements will be in place until the end of the works which are expected to last four weeks in total. A spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester Council said a diversion is currently in place. The works are being carried out as gas company, Cadent, is under instruction from the Health and Safety Executive to replace all cast iron mains within thirty metres of properties within thirty years, known as the 30/30 program. They have arranged a letter drop to affected properties in the area and signage at key locations. A spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester said: "A gas mains replacement scheme will begin in Hoole this week at the junction of Hamilton Street and Newton Lane. "Hamilton Street will be closed to traffic from Monday, February 22 and the work will then progress on to Hoole Road and Newton Lane from March 1.
