Breaking News ! Brits should not to travel to amber list countries for a holiday as foreign trips open up once again, Matt Hancock has warned. The Health Secretary was speaking ahead of England entering its next step of the roadmap out of lockdown. From today a raft of lockdown restrictions have been lifted, including the ban on non-essential foreign travel. As part of the re-opening of the border to international tourists a new traffic light system has been implemented, putting counties into red, amber or green, depending on their Covid risk. Just 12 countries have been placed into the green category and most nations across Europe are amber, meaning a period of isolation and more testing is needed to travel. He said people should “certainly not” go on holiday to some popular tourist destinations such as Spain, Italy, France and Greece, because of the risk from mutant strains of Covid. He told Times Radio: "People should not travel to amber or red list countries unless it’s absolutely necessary, and certainly not for holiday purposes.

.” John Bell, professor of medicine at Oxford University and a member of the government’s vaccine task force, was also reported to have warned against continental breaks, saying that swathes of Europe were 'largely unvaccinated' and 'vulnerable to new variants.' Pubs and restaurants will be able to reopen indoors and the ban on foreign travel is lifted, among a raft of other changes. In a statement, Mr Johnson said: "Together we have reached another milestone in our roadmap out of lockdown, but we must take this next step with a heavy dose of caution. "We are keeping the spread of the variant first identified in India under close observation and taking swift action where infection rates are rising."
