Breaking News ! Chaotic scenes broke out at London Heathrow airport as hundreds of passengers packed into huge queues at the border control with just three officers on duty to check their passports. Travellers, many with young families, were crammed at the "poorly ventilated" hall by the Terminal 5 border gate as some of them chanted "get more staff". Video shared by one of the passengers captures families standing in packed queues one after another, appearing to make it impossible to maintain social distancing. Most of the passengers are seen wearing face masks and face coverings as they wait to get their passports checked. If you’re family, and let’s face it, it’s summer holidays, then good luck getting through within 2 or 3 hours with only 4 desks only. Happy COVID holidays." A spokesperson for Heathrow Airport responded that the queues were "totally unacceptable", but indicated that passport control is operated by the UK Border Force. They said Border Force have forecasting systems to help avoid passenger queues on arrival. The airport also demanded that the Home Office prevent the scenes from happening again.
