Breaking News ! A "furious" woman has described her mother's traumatic experience when her flight from Bristol was suddenly cancelled. Sharon Wells, who lives in Ibiza, was meant to be spending time with her mother Teresa Wells on the island but Teresa's flight was cancelled by TUI at short notice, she says. Teresa, from Warminster in Wiltshire, was meant to be flying out on flight TOM6432 at 6am on Thursday (July 30). She had paid for a £200 taxi to get to Bristol Airport from Warminster, only to be turned around at 4am at the airport because the flight had been cancelled, her daughter said. Speaking to Bristol Live about her mum's ordeal, Sharon said: "My mother booked a flight with Tui to Ibiza, she has flown with them many times. For news tailored to your local area, powered by In Your Area: "This visit was important as I had a major cancer operation here on the island in lockdown and haven't seen her since last October. "Since Boris announced the new quarantine measures we have tried to contact Tui several times asking if flights had been cancelled along with holidays but nothing was ever clarified. "She received an email to say her holiday was cancelled, she only booked a flight, then received the go ahead to print out her e-ticket. "My aunt called Tui and spoke to a gentleman that said the flight was going ahead. "She had to queue up outside the airport for 45 minutes until it opened at 4am only to be confronted with a board saying her flight had been cancelled. "No refreshments available. She had to call for the cab company to turn around and come back to collect her. To say I'm furious is an understatement.

. Sharon said: "Mum is understandably upset. Really not at all sure if we as a family will ever fly with them again. "An unnecessary cab journey & £200 out of pocket because of Tui. Very upsetting & traumatic all round." Sharon's aunt Nanette Wells, who also lives in Warminster in Wiltshire says Tui told her the flight was still going ahead. "Not once did we read anywhere that the flight had been cancelled, only holidays, which confused us as she was flight only. That was the problem, plus receiving e tickets - we were online for over 30mins while he checked." Tui has apologised for the confusion and will be offering her either a new holiday or full refund. Tui response In a statement to Bristol Live, a spokesperson said: "We’d like to sincerely apologise to this customer for the confusion caused with her flight cancellation. "We can confirm that due to the updated travel advice from the UK Foreign Office advising against all but essential travel to all areas of Spain, this flight was cancelled. "Although we proactively contacted all affected customers to let them know, when this customer called our contact centre, there was unfortunately some confusion and she was given the incorrect information. "We’ll be in touch with the customer to apologise and arrange a new holiday, or offer a full cash refund."
