Breaking News ! Pontins has pushed back the reopening date of its holiday parks. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said holiday accommodation can accept visitors from July 4, as the coronavirus lockdown continues to ease. Pontins has six destinations, the closest to Bristol being those at Weston-super-Mare's Sand Bay and Burnham-on-Sea's Brean Sands. The resort operator initially said its holiday parks would all be closed until 2021, before announcing last month they would reopen on July 6. But Pontins has now postponed the relaunch to July 17. In a statement on its website, it says: "Pontins Holiday Parks and Sand Bay & Pakefield Holiday Villages are reopening from July 17, 2020, in line with current Government advice. Bristol Live has asked Pontins why the reopening was postponed and which activities will be available next month. The holiday company is allowing customers to transfer their July and August bookings to available dates in 2021, free of charge. But if you want to move your holiday to a more expensive date, you will need to pay the difference, the website says. In its website statement, the operator says: "Pontins Holidays takes the health & safety of all its guests and staff very seriously and as such please be advised we will review and update this information as it is released by the Government.
