Breaking News ! Business owners can now bring furloughed employees back to work part time as the government hopes to 're-open the UK'. More than 9.3 million people signed up to the Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) when it was launched in May. Although the scheme will remain open until October, a number of changes are being made today (July 1). Employers can now choose to bring furloughed employees back to work for any amount of time and any shift pattern, while still being able to claim CJRS grant for the hours not worked.

But this has not stopped Avon and Somerset Police Chief Constable Andy Marsh urging people not to descend on the city centre or other high streets because it will not be “business as usual”. It comes after hospitality venues will be allowed to open their doors to customers for the first time in more than three months on Saturday (July 4). But new rules will be in place, including booking ahead, one-way systems, table service and limiting toilets to “one in, one out”, to maintain social distancing and contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
