Breaking News ! With Christmas over, the tree and decorations taken down and the last of the festive food consumed, now is the perfect time to get your house in order. Organising your home can have huge benefits to your mental health and in the spirit of new beginnings, self-storage experts at Space Station have teamed up with Marie Kondo trained expert, Sue Spencer, to reveal the secrets of organising the spaces in your home you share with your partner, which are often the most cluttered. Bathroom cabinets and wardrobes are two features of a home that often need overhauling, as sharing them with your other half often results in a continuous cycle of adding new items, rather than taking a step back and organising them properly. These two shared spaces are in fact the biggest source of friction between couples, so Sue has provided a detailed breakdown of the best organisation methods for your bathroom cabinets, as well as your wardrobe space. Sue’s tips for harmonious bathroom storage Finding the space in the bedroom for two sets of clothing can be challenging, so Sue has therefore broken down the best practices for dividing up wardrobe space with your partner. Sue’s tips for wardrobe storage Taking the time to organise your bathroom and wardrobes is a big undertaking and often takes a lot of time and patience. It is important therefore to make sure you can get the most out of the process by planning ahead. As such, Sue has also outlined a Marie Kondo approved audit of both these spaces, to ensure you are well equipped to tackle them head on. Sue’s tips for a successful bathroom audit: 1. Categorise your toiletries before organising. 2. Work through one category at a time and check which products you actually use. 3. Highlight shared items and agree whether they are to be kept or thrown away beforehand. 4. Highlight the items you know you love and use first. 5. Identify how often items will be used (are they for everyday use or a special occasion?). 6.

. 7. Throw out miniature toiletries to clear some immediate space. Sue’s tips for a successful wardrobe audit: 1. Have a clear vision of how you would like your wardrobe to look. 2. Get all your clothes out and put them in one place before organising. 3. If you and your partner have a lot of clothes, categorise them before sorting through. 4. Work through the categories one by one, prioritising the clothes you love and identifying why they are your favourites. 5. Divide clothes into a ‘keep’ and ‘discard’ pile whilst working through each category. Vlatka Lake, Marketing Manager at Space Station, said: “With a new year upon us, it is a popular time for households and couples to set fresh goals in January. “A popular decision for many is to declutter and re-organise the home, to give your living space a feeling of freshness whilst also ensuring the new year gets off to a productive start. “We hope these tips provided by a true home organisation expert will assist households in reinvigorating some of their most chaotic shared spaces, whilst also teaching good organisational habits moving forward.” For more details on the audits and organisational tips you can adopt around your house in 2021, visit: https://www.space-station.co.uk/blog/how-to-organise-your-storage-space-to-ensure-cohabiting-harmony
