Breaking News ! Friday, May 14 proved a significant day in the history of Bristol City, at least in the modern era, as Nigel Pearson made sweeping changes to his playing squad with the release of 11 first-team players. The decision was made in order to change the culture at the club as Pearson now puts his plan in place to hopefully guide the Robins towards the other end of the Championship table after a bitterly disappointing campaign. Freeing up squad places and salary gives the City manager greater flexibility to bring in the types of players and characters he wants and the squad that is in contention to start the first game of next season will look considerably different than the group of players that finished the 2020/21 season. Across the Championship projects of varying sizes are also taking place ahead of the summer, with clubs confirming the details of those individuals who will be moving on as free agents and those who they hope to keep.
