Breaking News ! A second year group is self-isolating at a Bristol secondary school after more pupils contracted coronavirus. Colston's Girls' School sent a letter to parents yesterday (Friday, November 20), confirming that the school community is experiencing an "infectious period". Year 11 had been sent home the previous week following two linked cases within the bubble, and cases were identified that same week in four other year groups. This week, further cases have been confirmed including two in Year 10 and two more in Year 7, in addition to a single case in Year 7 identified the previous week. As a result, the school in Montpelier - which will be renamed Montpelier High School next year - has now also sent Year 7 home to self-isolate. The letter, signed by principal Kerry McCullagh, stated: "This week has continued to see single isolated cases of positive COVID test results in year 11, 12 and 13. "We are really grateful for the swift action taken by many families in self-isolating early and preventing their child from coming into school during an infectious period.

." It is not clear in the letter if the Year 12 cases are new this week, or if this refers to the cases already reported. She said the decision to close down the Year 7 bubble was made on Thursday (November 19), in consultation with the school's multi-academy trust and the council. "We will be working hard to ensure that all year 7s are able to follow their normal school timetable from home with most lessons being taught live remotely. "We have collected a student voice from year 11 of their experience of learning during self-isolation and welcome any comments from parents and carers."
