CCTV caught the figure sprinting from the scene in Giles Close, Stechford, shortly after midnight on Sunday (May 14) where a Toyota was set alight. A resident captured the moment the car bursts into flames and is totally set alight, before a fire crew arrives and extinguishes it. Police and the fire service attended the blaze shortly after midnight, the latest in a string of similar attacks in the same cul-de-sac. In response to the latest incident a spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a car was deliberately set on fire in Giles Close, Birmingham just before 12.15am this morning (16 May). “There have been previous car fires in the same street earlier this year. “We recognise the impact that incidents like this have on the people affected and those living nearby. “Enquires are ongoing, including a CCTV trawl and forensic examination of the car and scene. “Local neighbourhood officers will increase reassurance patrols in the area, please do speak to them if you have any concerns. “We’re also working with our colleagues at the fire service to try and determine why this is happening and who is responsible."
The spokeswoman continued: “We’d urge anyone who has any information about what happened last night, or any of the previous incidents from January, to contact us as a matter of urgency.” “Fortunately no one has been injured, but fires are extremely dangerous.
