The French full-back hasn’t figured for Dean Smith’s side in the Premier League this season, with his only appearances coming against Bristol City and Stoke City in the Carabao Cup. Guilbert has slipped to third behind Matty Cash and Ahmed Elmohamady in the right-back pecking order. It would be no surprise to see the Frenchman, who almost joined French club Nantes in the last transfer window, depart Villa Park this month.
. However, Football Insider is reporting that the 26-year-old has turned down that move and would prefer to remain closer to home. The report adds that a loan move to another English club is a “strong possibility”.
