MetiNews.Com - West Bromwich Albion are still looking for their first win after returning to the Premier, denied once more in controversial circumstances at Old Trafford
Breaking News ! Rio Ferdinand has slammed David Coote’s controversial decision after the referee denied West Bromwich Albion a penalty in their defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday evening. The former Manchester United star watched as Coote awarded, checked, then ruled out what to many looked like a clear-cut spot kick as Bruno Fernandes appeared to make contact with both the ball and Conor Gallagher. That was early in the second half of last night’s game and instead of having the chance to go 1-0 up, the Baggies were soon a goal down after Coote ignored their claims for a foul in the build up to United’s penalty. But it was the Gallagher incident which angered Ferdninand after Coote went to a pitchside monitor to overturn his original decision. Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand was less than impressed. “It’s a disgraceful decision,” he said. “How can he go against his own decision on that?” West Brom daily newsletter. Free. In his post-match comments, West Brom boss Slaven Bilic was bemused by Coote’s actions. “I’m very disappointed with the decision,” Bilic told BT Sport. “I felt like ‘small West Brom’. “All those crucial decisions went against us. I’ve watched it a few times and it’s a clear penalty. I don’t understand why he overturned it.”
