Breaking News ! Friends and family have paid tribute to a 'bubbly and bright' Walsall teenager who died just 48hrs after being diagnosed with Covid. Professional wrestler Cameron Wellington, a former Walsall College student, died on Thursday with mum Jane and dad Norman at his side. The 19-year-old, from Walsall, had only been diagnosed with the virus on Tuesday, November 17. He had been dropped at Walsall Manor Hospital by his mum on Wednesday after suffering breathing difficulties. Shortly after she received a call from staff saying his oxygen levels had plummeted and he 'wasn't expected to last an hour'. Cam, as he was known, was put on dialysis and placed in ITU, before being rushed to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester for specialist care. Surgeons operated on his heart but the much-loved teen died shortly afterwards on Thursday afternoon with his devastated parents by his side. In an emotional post on Facebook, heartbroken pal Matt Powell wrote: "I am completely numb but need to pay tribute to a warrior. RIP to my mate Cam Wellington. "Cam had been with us at PWL/Darlaston Wrestling Club since he was a child in our kids class, then to our adults class. "Cam was a bright, loyal, wonderful young man, who said what he saw and said what he felt. He was one of the lads, partied has hard as he wrestled, a throwback to a better time.
