Breaking News ! Former West Brom boss Pepe Mel claims that the Premier League is ‘light years’ ahead of La Liga. Mel replaced Steve Clarke and took charge of the club in January 2014 with the club in relegation bother. They eventually survived by the skin of their teeth. While Mel won’t go down as a success of an appointment, the man himself - who enjoyed quite an affinity with large sections of the fanbase during his short tenure - still reflects fondly on his spell with Albion and has explained how he took a lot away from it. The Spanish game might be more attractive and there is more thought put into executing tactics, but the English equivalent shows more organisation, Mel claims. He also learned a lot when it came to training, day to day.
. “When a Spanish professional goes there he is delighted, and you will not know a single one who tells you that it’s a disaster. “Maybe, on the pitch (tactics wise), we could teach them something, but everything that happens outside of it, the organisation is much better. “We should learn a lot about the English league. It taught me ways to train, the rest of the player, the psychology of the day to day and things like that.”
