Birmingham news Paul Scholes explains Jack Grealish snub with puzzling comments MetiNews.Com
MetiNews.Com - Jack Grealish has been in form for Aston Villa this season but former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes he must move on to ‘prove’ his ability
Breaking News ! Paul Scholes believes Jack Grealish needs to leave Aston Villa before he can be labelled as one of the best players in the Premier League. Grealish is enjoying another outstanding campaign for Villa, leading his side’s cause with six goals and 10 assists in 22 league matches - only Tottenham striker and England teammate Harry Kane has more in both columns. That form has put Grealish in the running for the Footballer of the Year award with the likes of Gary Lineker recently putting his weight behind him. Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder described Grealish as ‘the best player in England’ this week and admitted he is glad the 25-year-old will miss the clash with Villa at Bramall Lane on Wednesday. And done it in a decent team in Villa.” Asked to name the top five players of the season, Scholes snubbed Grealish, saying: “No. Don’t get me wrong, I love the player but if he was doing this at Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, one of the top clubs then he would be up there. He would possibly be (in the) top three.” He then added: “There’s no pressure on Villa. Where’s the pressure on Villa? If he’s at a top club then he needs to win every week. He needs to leave Villa to prove it. “I don’t question the lad’s ability one bit. I just want to see him do it at a top club. I think Villa are a great club, (but) he needs to get out to a club that needs to win every week, (where) there is pressure on him to win every week, win trophies and deliver titles.

Grealish was the subject of interest from Scholes' former employers United for much of last season before committing his future to Villa by signing a new five-year contract in September. It’s claimed that United still hold an interest in Grealish, while Manchester City have also been linked with the England international, who will miss his third match through injury when Villa face the Blades. Dean Smith said: “Jack will still be out for this game. He's still got pain on a particular movement he's got. “He’s working with the doctor and the rehab staff every day. It’s frustrating because he’s a top player and we’re a better team for having him in it.”
