Breaking News ! A man is set to undergo surgery on his leg after a dog attacked him in Stourbridge. The incident happened on Wednesday, July 29, on High Street at around 10.45pm. Tony Bird had just been for a meal with his business partner, Jon Gupta, and had started to walk back to the hotel he was staying at when they came across a man with a dog. As the pair passed them, the "Bull Terrier-type dog" latched on to Tony's leg as the owner dropped to the ground to try and release its grip. He then got the dog off and ran away with it. "Rio's takeaway on High Street assisted us with towels to cover his wound. "As the ambulance took a long time to come, we took Tony in the car to the hospital, where he was rushed in and is still awaiting surgery on his leg." .  He said: "One of my workers came running to me in the office telling me there had been a dog attack outside. "The man was lying down on the floor and blood was gushing out of his leg. I came running back into the shop to get bottles of water and clean cloths to put over the wound. "The ambulance did not arrive and the person was taken to hospital. I then took the victim's friends in my own car and dropped them off at the hospital. "Imagine this happening to a child, just think what the outcome of that would be?" A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were alerted to a man being bitten by a Bull Terrier-type dog in High Street, Stourbridge, on Wednesday evening (July 29). "A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries."
