Breaking News ! A judge has condemned a killer as "wicked" after she sent messages to the victim's parents in a bid to convince them she was still alive. High Court Judge Mrs Justice Cutts made the remarks after sentencing Gareeca Gordon to life imprisonment today (Tuesday) at Bristol Crown Court for the murder of Phoenix Netts. Gordon, 28, will serve a minimum period in prison of 23 years and six months for the brutal murder. She killed the former university student at the HMO property they shared in Lozells on April 16 last year after Miss Netts spurned a sexual relationship with her. Gordon made a number of trips to the Forest of Dean to dispose of the remains but was arrested by police after a member of the public reported suspicions about a vehicle driving near Coleford in Gloucestershire on May 12. Officers discovered Gordon standing next two suitcases at a quarry in the Forest of Dean. When they opened up the suitcases they discovered body parts including a burned torso. Gordon pretended to be Miss Netts in the days after her death in a bid to convince the victim's family and friends she was still alive. She sent Whattsap messages to her victim's mother and father - an act which Judge Cutts labelled "wicked and callous." Phoenix Netts (Image: WMP) Sentencing Gordon, Judge Cutts said: "You went to considerable efforts to make Miss Nett's family believe she was still alive. "You pretended to be her. You impersonated Miss Netts on Whattsap messages to her mother. You sent a message to her father saying she was staying with a friend in London. "This pretence was a wicked and callous thing to do.

Judge Cutts said Gordon's actions had caused Miss Nett's family untold suffering. She said: "It is clear from the deeply moving statements that Miss Netts was a lovely, caring, compassionate woman who was deeply loved. She had intended to move back to live with her parents. Her future was looking, bright and promising. You robbed her of the future she deserved. "You made their suffering so much worse by the way you behaved after her death. Such punishment cannot bring her back. They must forever live with her loss. "It is clear from what Miss Netts had said to friends that you wanted a sexual relationship with her.
"She asked you for money and you demanded sex if you gave her money. You became aggressive when she refused. "On April 16 you murdered Miss Netts. You stabbed her four times with a knife after she rejected your advances. "None of those wounds would have been fatal if you had called for help."
