Breaking News ! A mum has posted a heartbreaking photo cradling her "gorgeous baby boy" Elon, just days before he was mauled to death by a dog. Abigail Ellis is seen holding her newborn son, then 12 days old and weighing 6lb 11oz.. Just 11 days later, the baby died after being savaged by a pet dog. Posting a picture just after Elon was born, Abigail wrote on Facebook: "Our gorgeous baby boy, love him to bits." Beauty, isn't he?" The newborn baby suffered serious injuries when he was attacked by the dog at about 3.30pm on Sunday. He died in hospital the same day, and neighbours told how they watched as police struggled to remove the "big fluffy" dog from the property. Her three other older children - two boys and a girl - were in the home when the tragedy happened, Mirror Online reports. The father of Abigail's three other children died about 18 months ago, neighbours said. She would always put them first. "She loves dogs and would never have a dog around the kids if she thought they were dangerous.
. One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It is heartbreaking, it's just shocking. It's a tragedy upon a tragedy. "They just looked like such a lovely family, they were always together and always happy." Bunches of flowers have been left at the family's garden gate as locals paid tribute to the infant.
South Yorkshire Police said they were called to an address in the Woodlands area of Doncaster, at around 3.30pm on Sunday following reports that a dog had attacked a child. It added: "On arrival at the property, emergency services discovered a 12-day-old baby boy had been bitten by a dog and suffered serious injuries. "The child was taken to hospital, but sadly died a short time later. "A 35-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. They have now been bailed while inquiries continue. "The dog has been removed from the address." Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101.
