Birmingham news GAME PS5 customers fuming at scalpers selling consoles on eBay MetiNews.Com
MetiNews.Com - People have demanded eBay take action
Breaking News ! GAME dropped a ton of consoles for customers earlier today and before long they were sold out. Instantly people started to complain about scalpers who began to sell consoles online on third-party websites after buying one. Scalping, which has come under fire since the release of the console, has been criticised by shoppers who have been trying to get a PS5. The process involves a buyer grabbing a console then trying to resell it for a profit - normally involving rising the price above the recommended retail price. Once the first drop happened, people on Twitter started showing people who began to sell consoles they bought off GAME. One stock tracker @UKPS5Notify shared images on Twitter of sellers attempting to sell consoles for £700 and even £800. People instantly started to complain about the reselling and demanded eBay did something about it. One person said: "@eBay_UK @eBay @AskeBay when are you going to do something about the scalpers on the PS5 selling pre orders from other retailers?". Another wrote: "@GAMEdigital is an utter joke!!! I spent 2 hours in the queue to pre-order a PS5 only to find out that they haven't taken any procedures to stop scalpers or to stop people from buying more than one!" And another said: "I have sat here from 0800 this morning refreshing the ps5 page.
. Why don't you just charge us 900 like the scalpers do? May as well. This is a joke."

GAME previously said it has "strong measures in place" to ensure people do not order more than one console. A spokesperson said: “PlayStation 5’s continue to be in very high demand and that demand far outweighs current supply. We have strong measures in place to help ensure that our ‘1 per customer’ statement is maintained to allow for as many individual customers to successfully purchase as possible. “All pre-orders are subject to automatic checks and order updates such as cancellations following these checks take place after a customer will have received a valid order confirmation email. At the present time these orders are still pre-orders and as such no payments have yet been taken from customers. Payments will commence once our order checks have been completed.”
