Breaking News ! A fundraising page set up in memory of a nurse who was killed in a crash on the M6 has raised more than £1,600 in just 24 hours. Victoria Kavanagh was critically injured when the Citroen C1 she was driving was involved in a collision with two lorries on Monday, July 27. The mother-of-two, from Oldbury, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, between Junction 9 ( Wednesbury ) and Junction 10 (Walsall). Loved ones were left shocked and heartbroken by the 41-year-old's tragic death, with her family releasing an emotional tribute via West Midlands Police, saying she would be "forever missed". In order to give Victoria "a send off that even a Disney princess would be proud of", her best friend, Rebecca Lockley, has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise £2,000 - and within 24 hours, more than £1,650 had been donated in her memory. Victoria Kavanagh (Image: WMP) A post on the page said: 'Vicky, you gave so much in all the roles you lived. From being a fantastic mum to a loving daughter, friend, nurse and more'. "Nobody could have prepared any of us for the devastating news we received on July 27, 2020, that you had been in a fatal car accident. The news of your death shocked your nearest and dearest but also those you have walked with throughout your life.  "Eighteen months ago Vicky successfully graduated as a children's nurse and began work for the NHS.  She had just been accepted to begin her master's degree and had so much to look forward to in the future. One of which was watching her children start their next chapters in their lives.  "We never had the chance to truly show her how much we loved and appreciated her for always putting everyone first other than herself. "We have started this page to raise funds towards the cost of the funeral. After giving everything for all of us she deserves a send off that even a Disney princess would be proud of (if you knew Vicky she loved anything Disney).  "We will never be able to give enough for everything that Vicky did for us all but let us all raise as much money as possible to give back to her family in her memory. And to give her children and family time to grieve their loss and not have to worry about money at this time of sadness." People can make a donation by clicking here. Sallyann Sutton, professional lead for school nursing at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Viki qualified as a children’s nurse in January 2019 and joined the school nursing service as a staff nurse in October 2019.

. She had a great sense of humour and friends and colleagues shared many funny moments during down time in the clinic. Viki was a member of staff who brightened the room; she was always smiling and was so supportive of others. “Viki recently shared that she loved her job in school nursing, felt welcomed by the team and settled in her role. She could not see herself doing any other job and she talked about looking forward to the opportunity to undertake the school nurse specialist practice degree. I often received emails and feedback from colleagues commending the high standard of her work. “Viki leaves an 18-year-old daughter and 20-year-old son. Our thoughts are with her family. We will all greatly miss Viki.” Police are continuing to investigate the circumstance leading to the crash, which happened shortly before 9am. The drivers of both lorries stopped at the scene and were helping officers in their investigation.  Anyone with information can contact collision investigators on FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk, via the Live Chat facility at www.west-midlands.police.uk or by calling 101.
