Breaking News ! Piers Morgan and Dr Hilary Jones has shared the promising reason behind the five week gap between lockdown stages. ITV Good Morning Britain host Piers and his Health Editor Dr Hilary discussed Prime Minister Boris Johnson's roadmap out of lockdown. Mr Johnson, the PM, announced the roadmap on Monday, in an address from Downing Street at 7pm, following a speech in the Commons yesterday. "There is crucially a five week gap between launching each stage so you can actually assess the reality of the impact on infections, hospitalisations and so on from each stage?" said Piers on ITV 's GMB. "So, you know, that with the vaccination programme, we have to try and get out of this somehow - it makes sense." Dr Hilary said: "I was really pleased to see that five week period. So it can be assessed as to how each step is progressing. So we can see what the case rates are, so we can see what the R number is. "So we can see what is happening with hospitalisations.
. So we can see which measures have worked and how we can ease lockdown safely.

"Without those measures, you cannot measure it. You cannot look at any metric and deem us to be safe or in a safe place. We have got to come out of lockdown safely. This is safe. "This is a real logical way of doing it." GMB continues to air each weekday at 6am on ITV1.
