Breaking News ! A cyclist is tonight fighting for his life in hospital after a serious hit-and-run in Erdington. The 39-year-old victim was hit by a car, described as a greyish large hatchback or small SUV, on Marlow Road at around 5.25pm. He sustained a life-threatening head injury and was taken to hospital. The car which hit the cyclist stopped briefly at the scene before fleeing, according to police. Forensic investigations will be carried out at the scene and police say they are speaking to a number of witnesses. Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our investigation is in the early stages, but we’re speaking to a number of witnesses who are helping with our enquiries.
. “I’d urge the driver to do the right thing and contact as soon as possible so you can tell us what happened. “A man is seriously injured and it’s important that we get the answers for all of those involved.” Anyone with information, or who saw the collision, has been asked to get in touch with the serious collision investigation team by emailing FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk log number 2747 of 16 May.
